…based on the following chart description:
HEAR THE FOOTSTEPS was bumped soundly after the start, advanced into a forward position during the run leading up to the opening bend, sat well placed from there under a good hold, failed to respond positively once called upon at the quarter pole getting outfinished during the stretch drive.
I could see people saying anything from second to way behind. What the chart couldn't tell you is that Footsie bled. Considering that, his third place finish was qite remarkable. This is a nice horse. In six races he has never finished off the board.
Unfortunately, he'll have to be turned out now for some rest and recreation. Hopefully, he'll be a good performer for us in 2011. BTW, you know how we owners like to blame jockeys… Alan Garcia did a very nice job with Footsie today. Aside from the bump at the start, he positioned him well and had him ready to pounce. He only lost by 1 1/2 lengths… imagine if he was not bleeding!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Best,
A.

Hear the Footsteps
Posted by Avram Freedberg
We visited the stable on Sunday morning and saw Hear the Footsteps, Katy's Office Girl and Cricky'sGoldenEyes. Footsie ate some treats, Katy sampled the treats and Cricky ate nothing… just like a two-year old! I found the trip with Rhoda on a beautiful Fall day and the time spent with the horses very calming. It was nice to see Linda and Abby and many of the grooms we knew from Saratoga.
On the racing front, Footsie is entered in a turf mile race on Thursday. Based n the weather, it'll probably come off the grass. It remains to be seen whether Linda will let him run on the main track. Stay tuned!
