Horses Update

Posted by Avram C. Freedberg

First, to the right, is a photo of trainer, Barclay Tagg riding his 2003 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner, Funnycide, last Sunday at Belmont. Barclay keeps Funnycide at his barn and often rides him around the track (Funnycide is a gelding and can’t be used at stud).

At our stable, Conseated Lady is back at Saratoga. Hopefully, she will stay well. She will be hand-walked for the next five days, then eased back into training. Hopefully, she’ll be able to run at Saratoga.

Ahvee’s Destiny needs to ship to some track where she can get used to her surroundings and then race. Linda is looking at Monmouth, Saratoga, and who knows where. More to come.

Holy Blitzer has been turned out after her X-rays showed significant healing. It is unlikely that future X-rays will show a perfect knee. So, the question will be how well it heals and how well she can run. She probably won’t start any training until Fall. Linda likes to go slowly with young horses. Therefore, unless Holy Blitzer shows any lameness, we won’t really know anything about her capabilities as a race horse until mid-2009.
